Giving to the Library
Funding sources determine the status of a library. Most public libraries are city libraries while a few, like the Fannie Brown Booth Library, are considered private. City libraries are primarily funded by the city in which they are located while private libraries are funded by donations, fund raisers, memorials, grants and city funds. Donations to the Fannie Brown Booth Library are tax exempt. Receipts may be requested upon donation. Memorials, either in memory of or in honor of, can be made by calling or writing to the library. The library staff will notify the family of the gift. The FBBL relys primarily on the generosity of the citizens for the funding to buy new library materials.
