New and Exciting Things at the Library!

Welcome back to the library!! We here at the Fannie Brown Booth Memorial Library are adjusting to this post-Covid world and would like to share some new information with you about changes we have made.

The library has been re-opened for a little while now and we are finally getting into a routine. When you visit the library in the future, there are a few things you should know.

Here are the new operating guidelines for Fannie Brown Booth Memorial Library:

  • The library has changed its hours for the first time in 5 years.
    • Open: Tuesday, Wednesday, & Friday - 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Thursday - 12 noon - 6:00 p.m.

  • Closed - Saturday, Sunday & Monday
  • Please come to the back door of the library and knock loudly. We have to limit the number of patrons in the building at one time, so we have to keep the door locked to monitor entry and exit.
  • Computers are available during all open hours, but only 3 are available at any time. This is due to social distancing guidelines.
  • Masks must be worn in the library – If you forget your mask, we have them available for $1.00.

Now that the rules are out of the way, we here at the library have a few pieces of BIG news to share!

  • Unfortunately, we do not feel that it is safe at this time to resume our normal storytime activities for preschoolers. However, we WILL have activity bags each week that can be picked up at the library and taken home to do with your child!
  • Due to Covid, we will be unable to have our normal fall book sale. But don’t despair! We would never leave our book sale lovers without their fix! We will have books for sale during all open hours in our Redditt Room from now until further notice!
  • For the many people who have come in over the years asking if we do faxes, we have a surprise for you! Due to various businesses minimizing their hours of operation or even closing down, we have reevaluated the need for fax services in our community. We have recently applied for and received a grant from the John Harris Community Fund that will allow us to purchase a high volume fax machine and will begin offering fax services! We are currently offering them using our regular fax machine, but the service and speed will be greatly improved once we get the new fax machine.
    • Prices for faxing will be:   $1.00 for the first page and 50 cents for each additional page.

Last, but certainly not least:

  • Fannie Brown Booth Memorial Library has applied for and received a grant from the John Harris Community Fund to purchase 10 internet hotspots to check out to our patrons!! This is a very exciting development for our library and our community in this new era of working and schooling from home! We are still working out the details regarding how long the checkouts will be, etc., and are waiting on delivery of the hotspots. We will be sure to keep everyone updated via the Light & Champion, Shelby County Today, and the library Facebook page!

That is all for now! We look forward to seeing you at the library!
